Malta is not only about the crystal-clear sea and near-constant sun, but is also a cultural hotspot; UNESCO World Heritage sites, medieval towns, temples and exquisite cuisine. We begin our group trip to Malta in St. Julian’s, a picturesque fishing town, before moving to the capital of Valletta. We’ll lose ourselves in the labyrinth of streets and alleyways, and then set off for the island of Gozo, exploring this paradise via jeep. We’ll conclude our trip with a visit to the south, and be absorbed by the picture-perfect landscapes.

Tour Mood

This tour is all about exploring Malta's most beautiful towns, so we recommend comfortable shoes, backpacks and a dose of curiosity!

Travel Difficulty

The physical effort required of this trip is low. There are no hotel changes and the pace is relaxed with occasional need to travel, but we’ll mostly enjoy the moment and seek to return home refreshed.

St. Julian's

Day 1 - details

Flights to and from the UK are not included in the package, so you can decide from where and when you want to leave! This gives you complete freedom of choice to adjust your travel itinerary to your needs.

Dingli, Rabat and Mdina

Day 2 - details
Dingli and Rabat

We pick up our cars, our faithful travelling companions for the next few days, and set off. Our first stop is the pastoral Eden of Dingli, famous for its cliffs and breathtaking views of the sea.

We can decide to explore them on foot or, for the more adventurous, by Segway!

We hit the road again for a few kilometres, travelling along the road that separates Dingli from Rabat. The Roman, Arab, and Norman influences can be clearly seen here, and we’ll check out the long passages and underground tunnels of the St. Paul Catacombs. We’ll then look at the frescoes in St. Agatha’s Crypt and the incredibly well-preserved 16th-century palace of Casa Bernard.

Mdina, Malta's former capital, is known as the 'silent city' because silence and tranquillity reign supreme here. Being situated 190 metres above sea level, this makes it an ideal location to admire the beauty of the island and Rabat. Mdina is particularly enchanting at dusk, which means the evening renders it the perfect spot for our welcome dinner and a toast to our upcoming adventure together!

Day 3 - details
The Sister Islands

It’s an early start this morning, as we’re off to one of the two "sister islands" in Gozo.

Gozo is the largest island off the coast of Malta, and possesses postcard-worthy beaches, like the incredible Dwejra, at every turn. The landscapes that cover this island are simply spectacular, and we’ll discover the famous ‘Blue Window’, an arch suspended over the sea, which overlooks the breathtaking ‘Blue Hole’, the most azure rockpool you’ll ever see. The sea might steal our hearts, but it’s also worth checking out the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ggantija, a megalithic temple complex from the Neolithic era. We can also immerse ourselves in the rich culture of Gozo, watching goat’s cheese being made on a farm, admiring the Xwejni salt pans and the Citadel. As a group we can decide whether or not to stay in Xlendi until evening and feast upon delicious fresh fish for dinner.

Day 4 - details
South Malta

Today we’re off to the village of Marsaxlokk, where Malta’s essence is encapsulated and where the multicoloured fishing boats moored at the harbour define the landscape. The Church of Our Lady Pompeii is another iconic landmark of the village, located in the main square and enchanting visitors with its red dome and 19th-century façade. We stop in the village for lunch, and then continue the afternoon with a visit to the megalithic temples of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra or, weather permitting, we could head to one of the beautiful coves in the area!

The Amazing Comino

Day 5 - details
Beach Day or Hiking?

Today (weather permitting) we have a wonderful boat trip to Comino planned, so we can admire the enigmatic sea caves and mesmerising Blue Lagoon. If the weather is not suitable for a day at sea, then we'll switch to plan B: a trek along the cliffs overlooking the beaches of Ghajn Tuffieha, Gnejna, and the Golden Bay. This will also allow us the possibility to enjoy a drink on the beach in Ghajn Tuffieha.

Included in Tour Price: car hire Included in Money Pot: fuel, parking and excursions Not Included: food and drink

Day 6 - details
The Maltese Capital

The Maltese capital is basically an open-air museum, with more than 300 historical buildings, churches and monuments, spread across a mere 33 hectares.

In the morning we lose ourselves in the winding streets of Valletta, defined by the ‘gallarijas’, typical Maltese balconies. We’ll be sure to explore the main attractions of the city, before meeting again in the late afternoon to enjoy our final evening together and farewell dinner.
