Let's kick off our adventure in style as we bid adieu to the bustling capital and head towards the charming town of Viñales. Tucked away in a natural park, it's like stumbling upon a slice of paradise in the Caribbean.

Viñales isn't just pretty scenery; it's like stepping into a movie scene. Picture this: us, cruising on horseback through endless tobacco fields, with local farmers as our guides. It's an experience straight out of a dream!

And of course, we can't miss out on the iconic Cuban cigars, which just happen to be made right here in Viñales. So, not only do we get to see how they're grown and rolled, but we can also stock up on our favoUrites to enjoy later. It's the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation, Cuban style!

Cayo Jutias, between crystal clear waters and white sand beaches

Head to the sea

Today, we bid farewell to the countryside and head towards the coast for a day of sun, sand, and sea. Just a quick hour's drive from Viñales, the pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters of Cayo Jutias beckon—it's Caribbean bliss at its finest!

Our morning kicks off with a visit to the Mural de la Prehistoria, a jaw-dropping outdoor masterpiece and the largest of its kind in Latin America. Then, it's all about soaking up the sun and surf, or perhaps embarking on leisurely strolls to explore the mangrove forests that fringe the shoreline—a photographer's paradise, guaranteed to fuel envy-inducing tales for office chatter.

As the day winds down, we return to Viñales, where the legendary Cuban hospitality awaits. What better way to cap off the day than by immersing ourselves in the rhythm of salsa, learning a few moves from the locals? It's the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and cultural immersion—all in one unforgettable day!

From Pinar del Rio to Cienfuegos

Pinar del Rìo

After indulging in a hearty breakfast to fuel our adventures, we bid adieu to Viñales and set our sights on further exploration of this captivating Caribbean island. Our first stop of the day? Pinar del Río, the provincial capital and a hidden gem awaiting discovery.

While not as renowned as Havana or Varadero, Pinar del Río boasts its own unique charm, offering an authentic glimpse into Cuban life. Here, amidst the relaxed atmosphere and colonial architecture, we find a quintessential Cuban town brimming with character.

Stroll through streets adorned with vibrant buildings, meander around tree-lined squares, and immerse yourself in the local culture with visits to eclectic shops and authentic eateries. Pinar del Río is also celebrated for its craftsmanship, particularly in furniture and artisanal goods.

A highlight of our visit is the awe-inspiring San Rosendo Cathedral, a grand 19th-century church nestled in the heart of the city. With its majestic presence, it serves as a testament to the rich history and heritage of Pinar del Río. So, let's hit the streets and uncover the hidden treasures of this charming Cuban enclave!

Cuban vibes

We will continue in the early afternoon towards Cienfuegos . Known as "The Pearl of the South" for its architectural beauty and its panoramic position on Cienfuegos Bay. The city has a strong musical tradition, with a large influence of genres such as Cuban son and salsa.

Discovering Trinidad

The heart of Cuba

Today marks our departure from Cienfuegos as we journey onward to our next destination: the enchanting town of Trinidad. Here, nestled between vibrant hues and crystalline waters, we'll immerse ourselves in two days of pure bliss.

Trinidad's authentic streets beckon with their kaleidoscope of colours and the genuine warmth of its people. As we wander, music will serenade our senses, and our taste buds will delight in the bounty of fresh fish and tropical fruits.

During our stay, let's indulge in evenings spent dining on terraces, where we can savour delectable cuisine while soaking in the mesmerising panoramic views of the city. With each passing moment, Trinidad's charm will weave its spell, ensuring an unforgettable experience that lingers in our hearts long after we bid farewell.

Forest and waterfalls

As the afternoon rolls in, get ready for an exhilarating adventure! Just outside Trinidad, a haven of unparalleled beauty awaits us: Topes de Collantes Natural Park. Here, amidst the lush greenery of the real Cuban jungle, prepare to be enchanted by a world teeming with life.

While the humidity may be high, the rewards of our journey are boundless. Encounter giant butterflies, dazzling hummingbirds, and a kaleidoscope of tropical flora as we venture deeper into the park. Our path leads us to Caburnì, where dense vegetation and breathtaking vistas await.

Traverse through coffee plantations, passing by traditional homes, until we reach the majestic Salto del Caburni waterfall. Here, amidst natural pools, we can plunge into refreshing waters or simply bask in the tranquility of our surroundings.

As the day draws to a close, we return to the lively streets of Trinidad for a well-deserved dinner. But the night is still young, and what better way to cap off our adventure than with salsa lessons beneath the stars?

Varadero: tropical paradise

Our adventure today kicks off with a visit to Santa Clara, a city deeply intertwined with the legacy of Ernesto Guevara, affectionately known as El Che. It was here, in Santa Clara, that El Che played a pivotal role in toppling the Batista dictatorship, marking a historic triumph for the Revolution. Our journey takes us to the mausoleum, where the revered leader and his fellow revolutionaries rest, offering a poignant opportunity to delve into Cuba's modern history.

Next on our itinerary? The Caribbean paradise we've been longing for: Varadero! With its iconic images of palm-fringed white sands and crystalline waters, it's the epitome of tropical bliss. Before we sink our toes into the soft sand, we'll make a brief stop—perhaps to explore the enchanting Caves of Saturn or to indulge in some snorkelling at Playa Coral, marvelling at the vibrant coral reefs below.

But once we reach Varadero, it's all about unwinding and soaking up the sun. With 22 kilometers of pristine shoreline stretching before us, there's ample opportunity for pure relaxation. Tonight, as the sun sets, we'll make our way back to Matanzas for a well-deserved dinner and a restful night's sleep, cherishing the memories of our day spent in paradise.

day 8

Day at the beach: Cayo Blanco

Boat excursion

As the sun rises, we set off for Cayo Blanco, home to some of the most breathtaking beaches along the Cuban coastline. Picture-perfect scenes await us: powdery white sands, shimmering turquoise waters, charming kiosks offering refreshing drinks and snacks, and rustic thatched umbrellas swaying gently in the breeze, all framed by towering palm trees.

Our journey to this tropical haven is a treat in itself, with an exciting excursion on an exclusive yacht or catamaran. On board, an open bar awaits, ensuring our voyage is as enjoyable as the destination. Upon arrival, a sumptuous buffet lunch awaits us on Cayo Blanco, followed by opportunities for snorkelling amidst vibrant marine life and ample free time to bask in the island's tranquility.

But the highlight of our day? Gathering together to capture the magic of a group photo against the backdrop of a sunset over the sea. It's a moment we'll treasure forever—a perfect conclusion to a day filled with relaxation and rejuvenation in paradise.

Returning to Havana

Discovering the city of Havana

Around Havana

Today we will spend the day discovering the places and history of the Cuban capital. The alternatives are many, our tour certainly cannot miss a stop at the Plaza de la Revolución where the faces of two very famous revolutionaries such as Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos stand out and where the majestic memorial to Jose Martì stands , another fundamental figure for the independence of the Caribbean island. From there we will be able to leave the city centre a little further to reach the very particular neighbourhood of Fusterlandia created by the artist Josè Fuster, where we will feel like we are entering a fairy tale while we will be surrounded by thousands of colourful mosaics.

The magic of Old Havana

As we make our way back to the heart of the city, get ready to immerse yourself in the enchanting atmosphere of Habana Vieja. This entire neighbourhood is a UNESCO World Heritage site, brimming with photographic opportunities at every turn.

From the iconic pre-revolution American cars to the historic landmarks like the hotels that hosted extravagant parties during American prohibition and the Bacardi palace where the renowned Rum was invented, there's no shortage of captivating sights to capture. As we wander through the cobblestone streets, we'll encounter the Payret cinema, the legendary Floridita restaurant, and so much more.

After soaking in the colonial charm of Plaza de Armas, Plaza Vieja, and Plaza de la Catedral, it's time to unwind with a refreshing mojito at the iconic Bodeguita del Medio—a favourite haunt of literary giants like Ernest Hemingway and Pablo Neruda.

But our exploration doesn't end there! For those still eager to discover, a visit to the nearby Morro Castle promises panoramic views of the city and a spectacular sunset. And as the day draws to a close, we'll gather for a farewell dinner, reflecting on the memories we've created and the beauty of Cuba that has captivated us all.
