The Egyptian Museum

Today, we kickstart our day with a must-visit destination to deepen our understanding of this incredible place – the Egyptian Museum in Cairo! Housing a staggering 150,000 artefacts, it boasts the world's largest collection of items from the Ancient Egyptian era. While we might not get to see everything, we'll certainly give it our best shot.

For a more enlightening experience, we have the option to explore the museum alongside an expert Egyptologist. As we stroll through the corridors adorned with papyrus, statues, sarcophagi, and even mummified pharaohs, we'll unravel the history of this ancient civilization. Among all the treasures, one piece shines the brightest – the death mask of Pharaoh Tutankhamun.

This immersive experience sets the stage for the rest of our day as we continue to explore the city, now equipped with a much deeper appreciation of its historical and cultural richness.

Memphis: the Capital of Ancient Egypt

In the afternoon, we'll explore an unexpected treasure – not the well-known pyramids, but rather the historic gems of Memphis, Ancient Egypt's inaugural capital, and the nearby Saqqara necropolis. Just under five years ago, an astonishingly well-preserved new tomb, likely belonging to a 4,400-year-old Egyptian official, was unearthed here.

Amid the aura of mystery, we'll encounter Djoser's pyramid, the country's oldest, where a total of 17 pharaohs found their resting place. If time permits, we'll venture to the Dashur necropolis, home to the unique bent pyramid that opened to the public in 2019.
