Puglia is a state of mind! In this tour we’ll discover the beauty of the region in the heel of Italy’s boot,from Bari to Lecce, through the beautiful small seaside towns, like Polignano and Otranto,charming villages, like Giovinazzo or Ostuni. During our on the road trip we’ll have the opportunity to see the most beautiful beaches of this country: cliffs and sandy beaches,perfect place for aperitif at sunset!

Castel del Monte and Alberobello are an inevitabile stop!
Puglia is also home to many of the foods Italy is famous for : lots of fantastic ingredients to choose from, they’ll make us feel at home! Are you ready for this italian adventure? 

This itinerary has been suggested and created by two of our italian Travel Coordinators, both from Puglia: Michele De Santis , also known as Milko, from Bari, after wandering around Italy, he decided that Puglia would be his home; Anna Gianfrancesco in love with her Puglia, hometown that she leaves just for discovering the world.
Travel mood

This trip is an on the road tour : we’ll move a lot and change many accommodations, so please bring a backpack with you and leave the big luggage home.

Travel Difficulty

This trip is not particularly hard but days will be intense: there’s a lot to see, so expect to walk a lot. For this roadtrip is required driving availability. We will drive around 100 km per day and we’ll spend about 2 hours a day driving. So let’s choose the best playlist !

Day 1 - details
Se Parigi avesse il mare sarebbe una piccola Bari!

If Paris has the sea, it would be a little Bari

Roundtrip flights are not included so that you can choose where from, when and with whom you want to fly. All of that is up to you! Bari can be reached by flight, by train or by bus.

Welcome to Bari! Bari is capital of Puglia, a wonderful city on the Adriatic Sea. We leave our backpacks at the hotel and let’s discover the city and its beauty. What about enjoying a great sea view while having a drink?


Trani and Castel del Monte

Day 2 - details
Welcome to Trani, the south gem

Let’s start our road trip, after a delicious breakfast, heading to Trani: its elegant port, surrounded by historic buildings, Castel Svevo, King’s Manfredi favourite residence and the marvellous and unique Cathedral in front of the sea.

We get lost in the Jewish ghetto and later we taste some typical food for lunch. Don’t forget to try the famous “Moscato di Trani”!

In the afternoon we are ready to discover the great Castel del Monte, UNESCO World Heritage site, fortress commissioned by Frederick II. A unique piece of medieval military architecture, Castel del Monte is probably one of the most famous cultural sites of Puglia.

The perfect touch to end the day is the Murgia, a fascinating area with large golden wheat fields,where we can go horseback riding admiring the sunset. Welcome dinner to start knowing your new friends, what a better way than starting off with typical foods?

Giovinazzo and Castellana Grotte

Day 3 - details
Giovinazzo: a beauty by the sea

A couple of kilometers from Bari we’ll find Giovinazzo, famous for the old town set with white stone and architectural beauties. Its historical center can be accessed by the Arch of Trajan, where we could reach the Romanic Cathedral and the promenade by the sea.
Giovinazzo is also known as the “City of the Olive Oil” and the typical Pizzella or Panzerotto, maybe on the beach :)

Caves and Trulli: Castellana and Alberobello

Another World Heritage site awaits us: Alberobello Trulli. The typical white houses are characterized by a stone conical roof, that make Alberobello one of the main tourist attractions in Puglia. Castellana Caves are one of the most important natural attractions in Puglia, deep more than 60 meters in an amazing scenario made of stalactites and stalagmites.

Cellino San Marco and Lecce

Day 4 - details
Sommelier get ready! Welcome to Cellino!

Welcome to the hometown of Salento winery : Cellino S. Marco. Today we cannot miss a winery tour: multisensory journey around vineyards, discovering the tradition of wine production combined with culinary flavors.

Baroque Capital : Lecce

After Wine tasting, it’s time for Lecce and our first stop is Santa Maria di Cerrete Abbey, a Byzantine monastery, surrounded by olive groves. Lecce is also called the Florence of the South, a city full of history with Basilica of Santa Croce, S.Oronzo square and Porta Napoli. The Duomo Square is probably the most suggestive place of the city, during the evening it lights up! Couldn’t miss it!
But we also couldn’t miss Salento cuisine... let’s taste the famous Pasticciotto….So good!

Day 5 - details
The door to the East: Otranto

Our road trip continues , it’s time to reach Otranto, the most charming Salento’s city and the most Eastern italian city too. Its majestic cathedral, covered by stunning mosaics, and the Aragonese Castle, are symbols of this city. Otranto is also the meeting point of the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea and with different beaches and bays, it seems to have arrived in a tropical place, thanks to the clear water and the white sand. And there's no better way to experience this paradise than relaxing on the beach the entire day.

Brindisi and Torre Guaceto

Day 6 - details
Brindisi and its port

Otranto gives us another gem: Bauxite Cave, an unusually colorful place, where the red landscape is in contrast with the green water inside the pond.

Next stop is Brindisi, which welcomes us with a distinctive port that surrounds the entire city.

Before continuing our road trip, our goal is to taste the famous Frutti di mare pasta...we’ll not regret it!

Beaches and nature : Torre Guaceto

Torre Guaceto is a marine protected area,with crystal clear blue water, it is the right place to spend the afternoon relaxing and catching the sunset.

Day 7 - details
Beaches and chill: Ostuni Marina - Dunas Park

Ostuni is called the White City, enchanting whitewashed houses and streets, and it is located on the Murgia Pugliese, wherefrom the top the view embraces the valley and down to the sea. We could walk along the little streets or decide to reach the closest beach for the entire afternoon. We need to work on our tan :)

Polignano a Mare and Torre a Mare

Day 8 - details
“Nel blu dipinto di blu” : Polignano a mare

Polignano a Mare is the most photographed place in Puglia. Breathtaking views from the perched city center, Polignano is a gem, with aquamarine waters and limestone cliffs, it’s the perfect place to relax and swim in the warm sea.
We could spend the day wandering the streets, breathing the local atmosphere and grabbing baked goods from the cafes. Did you know it is the hometown of the famous Italian song “Nel blu dipinto di blu”? Domenico Modugno was born in Polignano!

Torre a Mare: fisherman’s corner

Torre a Mare is our last stop before the ending of this amazing road trip. It is a small village, full of cafes and restaurants, great for having lunch and tasting seafood specialties.

Bari awaits us, with its charm and folklore. Of course, we cannot miss the famous “Orecchiette Pasta” (little ears) , fresh Pasta hand-made by women lining the street in the Old Bari.

Time to say goodbye with a farewell dinner and let’s celebrate the good time we had together during this trip!
